My Future House Wishlist
Adding to my past "Dream House" post, or just editing it a little.
1. A fireplace in the living room, but also one in the master bedroom.
2. A chicken coop.
3. A four seasons "catio." (Cat patio)
4. At least one set of French / antique double doors inside.
5. Four or more bedrooms.
6. An indoor swing for any future baby, preferably in a very whimsical, mainly white bedroom.
7. Brick or tile for the kitchen floor. (I am SO sick of hardwood in my kitchen.)
8. A butler's pantry. (Now I'm getting picky. But it really sucks having to go into the basement every time I'm hungry. Granted a future house would have more space in the kitchen for food...I still want one.)
9. A bigger master bath.
10. A Japanese wood soaking tub / hinoki tub.
11. An indoor (maybe in basement) sauna.
12. An outdoor fireplace, preferable under the patio or something so you can still enjoy it when the weather is bad.
13. Tons of trees on the property.
14. Either a completely white exterior or a brick exterior, although I think most would agree with me if I said I'd be completely happy in the house from Practical Magic.
15. A white beadboard ceiling in the kitchen.
16. A brick patio, with a beadboard ceiling and chandelier.
17. A meditation/reading/movie room with two chaise lounges and a fireplace.
18. Some rounded windows, preferably over the kitchen sink.

Inspired to Use Color
Found this in an email from Traditional Home:
and I realized how easy it would be to make my living room look very similar. Below is a picture of my space with a newly aquired big, heavy, wooden sign I painted blue, although it is not up on the wall yet, it is just resting on top of the bookcases. (By the way, I'd love to get a brown zebra cowhide for the room.)
I am not sure yet if I want to make this change. I really love the room as it is now (see below) and I wonder if the sign will be too much for the small space. The sign would sit a little higher on the wall, behind the TV, than it does in the picture above. When viewing the picture below, note that the ugly gray leather sofa is going bye bye as soon as possible. What do you think I should replace it with? I was thinking of a beige linen chaise or extra wide club chair...
So, your thoughts? Keep it warm and cozy, or add a pop of color? It won't look so silly when that sofa is replaced, but maybe the sign would look better painted black instead of blue.

Happy New Year & J.K. Place Capri
Today I'd like to post pictures of the place I'd like to visit most, in hopes that I can go there soon. It is Isola di Ponza, Italy, a tiny island filled with cats and good food. There are a few islands in the group, and Capri is nearby. I went to Ponza when I was nine, and apparently now the islands are major tourist attractions that celebrities are known to frequent. Anyway, a while ago there were pictures of the J.K. Place Capri in one of my favorite online magazines, Lonny, and I just had to share how gorgeous this hotel is.
Michele Bonan is the designer of this hotel and they've also done the Heidelberg Suites in Germany and J.K. Place Firenze. I believe prices for the J.K. Capri start at 800 euros. Most images from their website.
