Black Headboard Inspiration

I think an elegant (or modern) black headboard in an otherwise neutral room, possibly with little pops of color throughout, makes for an amazing, classy space. Here are some inspiring rooms from around the internet.

Art Van usually carries black leather headboards, but here are other shopping options:

This headboard is available from Kmart online

Or, of course, you can always paint the headboard on the wall, as I've previously posted about.

By the way, there is seriously nothing better than a fur blanket (preferably faux) on top of your bed. I dare you to go out and buy one.

Cats and More Design Pictures

Nothing quite says "Welcome home" like a cat waiting by the door. No matter who makes you feel bad, a cat always makes you feel good. And its nice to know that even if you've dissappointed someone or had a bad day, the cat doesn't care. They just want to love you.

Little House With a Side of Blue, Please

Finally, a picture of the outside of my house, the deck, and the garden. (Since things are moving so slow inside.) It seems we put taking a shower on hold for a tiny garden. That probably wouldn't sound strange unless you know we haven't taken a shower in our new house since we bought it, which was in September. That's nine months of no showering, baths only. Anyway, we lined the miniature garden with bricks we found underneath our deck. My husband did all the work, but I had to relocate several rollie-pollie bugs that were living between the bricks. Or do they call them armadillo bugs?

I rediscovered how wonderful black and white can be paired with bright or pastel colors.
Umm, not to mention how that malachite sideboard is to die for.
I wonder if its real.

And a thought for the day...

Yay

So, I successfully ruined my sheepskin, even though Louise of Table Tonic (http://tabletonic.blogspot.com/) posted on how to wash it. I should have read that first. Anyway, Lonny mag May/June 2011 (http://www.lonnymag.com/issues/28-may-june-2011-issue/pages/1) is pretty great. If you haven't heard, it is a free online magazine. They have a nice article on the French Quarter in New Orleans, which is #2 on my vacation wishlist, #1 being Salem, MA.
Anyway, here's a picture of a bedroom from the magazine that a friend of mine might like.

Also loving this room in Todd Alexander Romano's home, also via the latest Lonny.

And this bedroom in Caroline Robert's home, also via the latest Lonny.

And her breakfast nook, too.

And this bedroom in Raina Penchansky's home, via the latest Lonny.

Also, I am DYING to get these Lakkari curtains from Anthropologie, which are now on sale for $99 EACH, for my boring dining room. If only Anthropologie wasn't the most expensive store I love. I wish I had the talent to embroider plain white curtains to look like this. Yes, the blue design on these curtains is think embroidery.

A black house and Abigail Ahern

Wanted to share this awesome all-black house.

Which, as I'm sure others have mentioned, would perfectly suit Abigail Ahern's style of interiors.

My Mom's Bedroom

I still have one bedroom left to redo, and while I am extremely tempted to turn it into a room strictly for fostered kittens, I have another matress to use, another dresser to use, and the possibility of having more guests than just my parents staying the night sometime in the future.
So I'm sure that I can put a protective matress cover over the bed, reserve my fancy sheets and duvet cover for when there aren't kittens, and restrain myself from buying a bedframe that kittens could dissappear under. For now.

It currently looks like this...

And my mom got us these sheets and duvet cover set for our wedding shower. I put up a paint sample that I really like. Which do you think works best? I can't decide. The dresser in the room will be a very dark chocolate brown. The true color of the sheets is closer to the top picture.

That said, here are ideas for that bedroom...

This first room is all white and has a white canopy bed like I want, but that will have to wait.
Apartment Therapy - Marya Rick

This second room has trees painted on the walls in two different shades of gray. My colors would still be gray, just a little bit darker.

This third room also has a painted/stenciled design that I love
The famous? Ohdeedoh pagoda kid's bedroom

And this last one I wonder if a smoky blue paint color like this might be a nice off-set to the golden cream color of the sheets and duvet cover I have

A Do-it-Yourself Headboard

When we bought our house we picked out a king size bedframe from Art Van that did not make it past our hallway, so for over six months our box spring has been sitting in the package it came in and it is sitting on the floor. Sometime soon I am going to try my luck at making a DIY headboard to fit our king size bed. It has to be tall enough to reach the height of the mirrors on both dressers, which reach our slanted ceiling. I intend for it to end up looking a little bit like this, specifically in height, only I don't want it to be tufted.

After coming across this blog post: http://dudeanddudetinteriors.blogspot.com/2010/04/another-diy-headboard.html and then this blog post http://dudeanddudetinteriors.blogspot.com/2010/03/nailed-it.html I decided it can't be that hard to make a headboard myself.

I would really love to make this blue velvet one for my friend, whose master bedroom would look great with this wall color, headboard and a green chair. (Although there are an infinite amount of other options.)
