I got this idea at work yesterday when I saw a coworker painting birdhouses Christmas style. It took about 20 minutes, some holiday stickers and two tiny tubes of bronze and white paint. Very cute, and a fun project if you have or teach kids.

DIY Headboard
Well, I finally finished our king size headboard. (Actually, I finished it a long time ago but just now got around to taking pictures.) We got the fabric from Joann's as well as the other materials - batting foam, staples, fabric spray... Let me know what you think. And take a look at the process and what that wall looked like before here. Keep in mind these are just the sheets and I haven't found the perfect duvet cover yet. I'm also thinking of switching the mirrors for something else, since they're too big.

Chalkboard Front Door
This is the coolest thing I've seen in a while! I would love to have a chalkboard front door so that visitors can leave a message if I'm not home. And if doing the whole door in chalkboard paint isn't possible, hanging a small chalkboard on the door instead is a good idea. I've seen this before on pantry doors, cupboard doors, kitchen and bedroom walls, and even bathrooms and hallways. I myself have a stick-on chalkboard on the inside of my cupboards that I write shopping lists and emergency numbers on. (I'll include a picture of mine at the end here.) I've also learned that you can buy or make chalkboard paint in multiple colors, so your front door does not necessarily have to be black.

What a good renovation looks like
These are pictures from recent real estate listings where the house was pretty much ancient, and the seller did quite a nice job of improving the home, leaving a lot to be personalized.

Updates
I got a little bored yesterday and decided to switch some stuff around. I switched the wood tray in the kitchen with the mirrored tray in the living room, placed a hat and a feather above the key rack, and added a small bench/ottoman for extra seating. Yes, I did that all last night. Here are the pictures.
The new kitchen island mirrored tray, with a bowl of tomatoes from my garden...
The hat I hung and the feather, along with some Jessica Galbreth art...
The wood tray went in the living room...
The new bench, with one of my furry kids already claiming it...
