No Headboard, No Problem

Whether we should buy a headboard or not was one of the first arguments my husband and I had after buying our house. He did not see the point in getting one until our pillows started sliding behind the matress. Needless to say, I won the argument. But for about, say, twenty dollars, you can have the look of a headboard for minimal cost and effort. Take a look at the following pictures. First you will see headboards painted on the wall, and then a shelf in place of a headboard.

Personally, I would love to try a painted-on-the-wall pagoda headboard ala Mary McDonald.

Also, a tip for the day: if your clothes are taking over your closet, consider the sleek velvety hangers now sold at places like TJ Maxx or Bed, Bath and Beyond. They really do work!
